The purpose of GED Boot Camp is to identify and assist those who failed one or two subtests on the GED Test before the new test series.

  • The GED Boot Camp is an intensive program focusing on essential GED skills, stressing the need for test-taking strategies and practice.
  • GED Boot Camp offers targeted review based on Individual Learning Plans.
  • The GED Boot Camp curriculum design is based on the GEDTS analysis of test results data – most missed questions on the GED.

 

Sessions are intensive and 12 hours long
  • Language Arts and Essay
  • Reading and Social Studies
  • Mathematics and Science
Sessions are offered:
  • Monday – Thursday 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • 2 Saturdays - 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Curriculum Design

Group activities that have students working with real-life material, include:

  • Newspapers, news magazines
  • Food and nutrition labels
  • Health related material

Group activities have students answering questions based on Bloom’s Taxonomy of Higher Order Thinking Skills.

Internet activities encourage exploring and completing activities.

 

Eligibility Criteria

Important: In order to register for GED Boot Camp you must be able to answer yes to all three of the following questions.

  1. Do you need to improve test score in only one or two subtests?
  2. Is your overall score on the GED above 1800?
  3. Is your individual subtest score above 380?
If you answer no to any of these questions you should plan to study for the GED at one of our Community School sites. A list of these sites may be found by clicking here.

* Note: Students taking the Language Arts and Essay classes need to bring an original essay to the first class meeting. The essay needs to follow these guidelines:

In your essay, identify what you would teach and explain how you would teach this. Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge to support your essay.
